Karma-approved Xmas gifts

Chelsea Powrie

Look no further than Critteraid for cute, karma-approved Christmas gifts that will make both your loved ones and the animals at the sanctuary happy this holiday season.

Animal director Jess Byer explained the sanctuary is offering a number of adorable gift options, proceeds from which will go back to their outreach program.

"Outreach helps us supply medical care for people in emergency situations who can't afford medical care for their animals," Byer said. "We can work with our local vet and supply that at a reduced or free cost. Emergencies come up from everything from kidney failures when they're older, to kittens eating ornaments at Christmas time."

They have t-shirts available for $25 which say "Good Karma Club" across the front, in honour of the 50 cats rescued from a hoarding situation earlier this year which the sanctuary dubbed their "Kaleden Karma Kittens."

"It's putting your own good energy back into the world," Byer said. "And we have our teddy bears, they're really cute and just simple but they say 'I Love Critteraid.'"

They also have 12-month wall calendars for sale, featuring Critteraid social media celebrity Maggie the black cat. She posed with various backgrounds and props for each month of the year, making a unique gift for any cat lover.

To order any of the items and find out how you can pick them up, email the sanctuary here or call Byer at 250-488-3226. They can also be found at the Critteraid Charity Shoppe in downtown Summerland.
