New skatepark takes shape

Skateboarders will have to wait until the spring, but the new skatepark in Summerland has fully taken shape.

New Line Skateparks has completed construction for the winter on the park at the corner of Jubilee Road West and Rosedale Avenue.

“They will be back in the spring to put the final touches on sealing the expansion joints,” said the municipality on Facebook. “Once the weather starts warming, the District of Summerland will complete the park with landscaping.”

The park will be open to the public in the spring.

It was built at a cost of about $600,000. Federal gas tax funds covered $458,000, while private donations have funded the rest.
