Voter turnout brisk so far

Turnout has been brisk at Summerland’s two polling stations for general voting day.

As of 5 p.m., a total of 2,248 people had cast a ballot at Summerland Secondary School and Giants Head Elementary. That’s on top of 1,304 who voted in two advanced polls on Oct. 10 and 16.

With more than 3,500 votes already cast this year, turnout may come close to the 4,446 votes in 2014 when 51 per cent of voters participated in a very contentious election.

Polls are open until 8 p.m. Lineups were non-existent when Catsanet visited both polling stations this afternoon.

Castanet will have a reporter at Summerland municipal hall providing live updates as the votes are being counted tonight.
