Flames engulf structure

Firefighters are working relentlessly to get a structure fire under control in Kaleden on Thursday night.

Police and fire crews are battling the blaze, which unconfirmed reports suggest it is a home at the corner of Highway 97 and Lakehill Road.

The fire is believed to have started just after 11 p.m.

A resident who frequently drives by the area said the only structures in the area are residential homes.

“It looked like the whole house was fully engulfed, could see the outline of the structure totally immersed in flame,” he said.

Numerous residents nearby have reached out to Castanet News saying they can see the large fire from a distance.

There has been no word on if anyone was inside the house at the time of the fire or how the blaze started.
