Cox announces candidacy

Penticton entrepreneur Jason Cox will be announcing his candidacy in the upcoming municipal election during a launch event this week

It is widely expected Cox will be running for mayor, but details will be confirmed noon Thursday at Time Winery.

“I am really excited for the event and hope that we have a very strong turnout,” he said in a news release.

Cox is the owner of the People’s Soda Company. Prior to that, he was a business banker with RBC and Valley First. He is a past president of the Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce.

He says he’s been laying the groundwork for his candidacy since last October, by hosting open forums and taking meetings with local business owners.

“I wanted to start by having a conversation with the people of Penticton,” said Cox, “To see what the issues are and how I could best help provide some solutions.”

“Penticton has been very good to me, it is time to give back” he added.
