City readying creeks for melt

Penticton Creek

The City of Penticton has received special approval from the provincial government to prepare Ellis Creek for the spring freshet.

The municipality is also working on Penticton Creek to remove debris and add rock armouring to ensure the creeks can handle additional flow.

“This work is scheduled to start immediately” said city engineer Ian Chapman in a news release. 

“Members of the public may observe excavators and trucks near both creeks and are asked to proceed carefully in the vicinity of this activity.”
