Burning ban back for season

The annual open air burning ban has been put in effect in the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen for the 2018 season.

Effective Sunday, April 15 and continuing through October 15, fires larger than 0.5 metres in heigh and width will not be allowed.

This applies to fire protection areas in Kaleden, Naramata, Okanagan Falls, Tulameen and Willowbrook. Properties outside of these areas are also under the ban, but residents can contact their municipality or the Ministry of Forests for more information.

Agriculturists and vineyards needing to remove whole trees or vines can ask the RDOS for help with chipping onsite, and orchardists and grape growers can contact RDOS Solid Waste for information on their disposal needs.

More information is available on the RDOS website

The City of Penticton also has an open burn ban in place, which runs the same time period.
