Pumps working against rain

"Our contractor has built additional capacity to take in the rain over the weekend," said EOC information chief Brandy Maslowski. "The water hasn't risen, which is a positive sign, but it's kinda balanced out."

Today, the team is focused on trying to not just hold the water level steady but begin to lower it.

"Our goal right now is to continue working hard to increase the flow of the pumping," Maslowski said.

The water is being piped 1.4 kilometres downhill to the Okanagan River Channel north of Vaseux Lake.

Photos taken over the weekend show many washed-out areas and infrastructure underwater, as well as rushing water at the OK Falls dam.

St. Andrew's Golf Course has also been hit by flooding from an overflown Prather Lake, and is engaged in its own pumping procedures.
