Local golf pro passes away

The Penticton golf community is mourning the loss of one of its professionals, with the sudden death of Jeff Hollman on Monday.

Hollman, 48, had been an assistant professional at the Penticton Golf and Country Club since 2009, according to a news release from the PGA of BC.

Originally from Edmonton, Hollman enjoyed a 25-year career as a PGA Canada pro stationed at several courses accross Western Canada, including Penticton.

“Hollman was known for his excellent work with junior golfers in the Penticton area, growing the club’s youth program to nearly 100 juniors in recent years,” the release states.

He was nominated for the coach of the year in the Interior Region in 2013, the same year he helped Penticton’s entry in the Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship to a runner-up finish.

Hollman is survived by wife Martina and daughters Honor and Kathryn.

Details regarding a celebration of life will be determined in the coming days.
