Summerland art off to Vic

Chelsea Powrie

A Summerland artist is in the final stages of preparing for a solo exhibition in Victoria, B.C. this weekend.

Michael Hermesh says he's been an artist all his life, and a professional one for 20 years. He works in many mediums, though this show will feature paintings and sculptures in bronze.

"The show itself is years worth of work," Hermesh said. "I'm trying to do art that doesn't allow people to take things for granted."

The show runs Jan. 18 and 19 at the Avenue Gallery in Victoria, and Hermesh said he's been "working like a dog" to get ready. After this, he'll be taking a break from bronze work to focus on his painting.

Those in Penticton can still get a taste of his sculpture in the park outside City Hall.
