Hats off to cap collector

A Penticton man has collected over 10,000 baseball caps, and shows no sign of stopping.

Justin Zinz has been gathering hats since 1998. He has a special interest in hats with unique logos.

"I became interested in caps when I was a kid," Zinz said, "Basically my goal is just to collect as many as I can in my lifetime and see where it goes from there."

Zinz has so many hats that he doesn't have the space to display them all. The spare room in his current apartment is covered in hats, both on the walls and furniture. He hopes to move to a larger apartment soon, so that he can unpack the hats he currently has to keep in boxes.

Zinz gets most of his hats from thrift stores and by donation. His favourite hats are ones from the 80s.

"They're a piece of history," he said. 

Zinz is currently on the look out for neon caps, which he says are rare.
