City still working on snow

The City of Penticton wants residents to know they are on the ball when it comes to snow and ice removal.

City plows prioritize main routes, steep hills and bus routes, then work through industrial routes, school zones and residential roads and lanes.

A snow check is conducted at 3 a.m., and if necessary, snow plowing or removal happens from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The city does not clear sidewalks in front of private residences or businesses. It is the responsibility of the occupier to clear sidewalks before 11 a.m.

A salt and sand mix is applied to roads to increase traction as needed, based on temperature and expected snowfall.

As temperatures warm, residents are also being encouraged to keep drainage areas clear of ice and debris to prevent flooding.

Residents with concerns over snow removal can call the City Public Works Department at 250-490-2500.
