New store helps artisans

A new business on Penticton's Main Street is aiming to help local artisans succeed.

Lisa Lauzé opened Mondo Creation because she felt creativity in Penticton needed a place to flourish.

"There are all these really creative, talented people in Penticton and I felt like they needed a space to be able to develop their business ideas," Lauzé said.

Mondo Creation will operate as a storefront, small event venue, creative space and anything else a local artisan might need.

The space includes a kitchen area, a piano and couches and can accommodate up to 75 people.

Lauzé hopes the space will be a meeting point in the community, where artisans can make a profit while honing their skills.

"I hope this is a cradle for artistic diversity, for us to know there is a body-mind-spirit approach to living, and an expression of that is through the arts," Lauzé said.

Mondo Creation will have a website up and running by the end of January with a calendar of events to be held at the store.  The storefront is located at 221 Main St.
