Penticton fire crews responded to what was believed to be a structure fire at a seniors facility Tuesday evening.
At 5:21 p.m., firefighters where called to 1147 Main Street to the retirement centre for alarms ringing.
After getting an update from on scene, it was quickly upgraded to a structure fire in a unit on the first floor with smoke showing.
When crews entered the unit, they found there was no fire, but food left on the stove which generated a lot of smoke.
Firefighters ventilated the unit and paramedics checked the occupant at the scene.
