Car club supports PRH

The Penticton Regional Hospital has received a generous donation of $5,000.

The cheque, from the Vintage Car Club of Canada, South Okanagan Chapter, was presented to PRH on Tuesday afternoon.

“We are making a donation from our annual swap, which is held in Oliver, of $5,000,” said Terry Swan, president of the chapter. “Hopefully they’re going to be able to use this money to buy a cardiac treatment chair and also orthopedic testing equipment.”

The money was raised during the 27th annual vintage automobile swap meet, held last April.

“The hospital is there for everyone in the South Okanagan area,” Swan said. “We thought this would be right place to receive the money.”

The hospital has been receiving many big and small donations over the past months.

“We had just over 30 donations today and last week we had a day with over 100,” said Carey Bornn, executive director, South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation. “It’s the time of year where there is a lot of generosity being shown by people in the community, whether that's a $50 or $5,000 donation.”

“We are just so appreciative of the people in our community.”

The $312 million tower is expected to open in April 2019.
