Cyclist crashes into truck

The Penticton RCMP is reminding cyclists and drivers to take care as the days get shorter and road conditions marginal.

Police say a cyclist left the sidewalk and crashed into the side of a pickup truck at about 4 p.m. last Friday.

“You are not a pedestrian when you’re on a bicycle,” said Cpl. Ted Manchulenko. “You should be either a pedestrian or a cyclist, one or the other.”

The incident occurred at the intersection on Ellis St. and Nanaimo Ave.

“I think we go lucky on this,” Manchulenko said. “There were no injuries, just some scratches to the pickup truck.”

Penticton RCMP are reminding everyone to stay alert when driving, walking or cycling near a road, due to a lack of visibility during the winter months.

The driver of the truck and the cyclist stayed on scene until cleared by emergency crews.
