Help us fight hunger

Castanet staff and the Penticton Vees will be at IGA Sunday filling the Vees' bus with donations for the local food bank.

The 1st annual ‘Penticton Cares’ event organized by Castanet, features a by-donation barbecue and chance to win a suite at the South Okanagan Events Centre for a Vees hockey game.

“This time of year is a good opportunity for us to try and give back to our local food banks, especially going into the holiday season,” said Colin Powell, Penticton IGA store owner and general manager.

To make it easier, there will be pre-made custom bags filled with food available to purchase for the Salvation Army.

“We encourage people to come down and also drop off nonperishable food items,” Powell said. “The Vees will be helping bag groceries as well as meeting customers and signing some autographs.”

If you can’t make it to the fundraiser on Dec. 10 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., you can drop off your donation this week or call Jeff at 250-490-6447 to pre-arrange a donation.
