Feds recognized for mural

Oliver mayor Ron Hovanes put the final touch on a mural in the town, to show appreciation to the federal government's financial help for the project.

Hovanes put the last bolt in a new recognition sign on the mural on Thursday, built by Mural Mosaic for Canada's 150th birthday.

The piece was unveiled on Canada Day, and has since been put up on the wall of the Archive Building on Oliver's Main Street.

The town received $15,000 from the federal government's Heritage Branch for the mural, and staff said the project "would not have been possible" without their contribution.

The mural in Oliver is one of 16 that were unveiled in B.C. by Mural Mosaic this year, and one of more than 70 across the country.
