'V2A' fundraiser returns

The 'little homes' in support of Penticton's homeless.

A Penticton family has once again come together in support of homeless residents throughout the community.

Dave, Viv and Heather Lieskovsky organize ‘V2A’ a fundraiser that helps those who are forced to live on the streets.

A collection of little V2A ‘homes’ have been made by the Lieskovsky family, using recycled materials, which can be purchased and used as ornaments.  

“Penticton is home to many, including those who don’t have actual homes to live in,” said Viv Lieskovsky, organizer.

V2A is Penticton’s postal code, which is why Lieskovsky named the fundraiser after it.  

“A postal code is something everyone has,” Lieskovsky said. “Those who don’t have a postal code, likely don’t have a home.”

The little homes can be used as holiday decorations, stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, hostess gifts or gift tags as little reminders that Penticton cares for those less fortunate in our community, according to Lieskovsky.

All the proceeds from the sale of the homes will be donated to the local Salvation Army to help them continue to work with Penticton's homeless.

Last year the fundraiser raised $1,420.  

The little homes are available at Banks Travel, 206 Main Street for $5 minimum donation.

The office is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
