New wheels for OSNS

Penticton's OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre has received another boost from a local organization.

The Knights of Pythias recently donated $600 to the centre, for it to purchase rehabilitation tricycles.

"This certainly shows their ongoing commitment to the OSNS, and we can't thank them enough," said Susan Robinson, the community relations and event coordinator.

The organization has donated to the gym at the centre so many times, including a climbing wall, that it is appropriately named the Pythian Therapy Room.

Knights member Reg Greenwood said they have helped furnish the room from the beginning to support the work OSNS does.

On Wednesday, two youngsters tested out the tricycles in front of an approving crowd.

Physiotherapist Dan Colbeck said the Silver Rider tricycles had a longer crank making it easier to pedal and a wider base of support, so they are less likely to tip over.

"We are super pleased with the quality of the tricycles," he said. "The little kids will be able to ride on the bikes, which builds confidence and encourages them to grow their skills."
