Ruby needs your help

Critteraid in Summerland is looking for donations to help pay for veterinary bills for one of their latest rescues.

Animal Director Jess Byer says Ruby was overused for puppies and required some pretty extensive veterinary work.

“She’s got some major dental from neglect coming up on the 17th, and we are looking for some donations to help with her bill.”

“If anyone would like to donate they can go to Critteraid.org, or just come into the store,” Byer said, referring to the Critteraid Charity Thrift Shoppe in Summerland.

The thrift store is the single largest source of revenue for the charity, which rescues animals and runs a cat sanctuary caring for over 60 cats on a farm in Summerland.

“We are in desperate need of volunteers for the store, for cashier especially,” Byer said.

She said they all are looking for is two hours a week, “it makes a big difference, in sorting clothes, mopping the floor and of course you can do an afternoon shift on cash, and make a big difference for the animals and for us.”
