Blanket drive continues

A Penticton blanket drive is well underway with donations of cold weather items coming through the doors of Gregory Litwin's notary public office every day.

Litwin organizes the “Cover with Kindness” effort every year, and is happy to see the outpouring from the community as the need continues to grow.

"We are serving lunch to 125 to 150 people every day at the Soupateria on an ongoing basis," said Litwin, who also works with the Soupateria society. "It has to do with our economy and that people's bills just keep going up all the time."

This year they have three real estate offices taking donations of winter coats, socks, long underwear, sweaters, toques and gloves.

They include:  Royal LePage, Chamberlain Property Group and ReMax Penticton.

The drive is running for 10 more days. Giveaway dates for those in need will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 19 and 20 at St. Saviour's church hall.

"I just wanted to again say thank you to those who give of their donations or of their time, volunteering their time and energy," said Litwin.
