A day of art and cats

International artist Terry Isaac is readying for his fourth annual gallery open house this weekend.

Known for his wildlife artwork, Isaac will be opening the doors of his Penticton gallery for the public to enjoy art, refreshments and wine from Three Sisters Winery.

New to the event this year is the partnership with Alley Cats Alliance, a local organization dedicated to providing rescue, rehabilitation, medical care and adoption to feral and orphaned cats and kittens throughout the Okanagan.

Isaac has donated a piece of his popular work, Peakaboo, to be raffled off at the end of the open house with all proceeds going to the organization.

“Animals and art, I’m so incredibly passionate for both,” he said. “I’ve spent my life capturing the likeness of all kinds of animals whether it’s a polar bear in Churchill, Manitoba or our beloved gallery dog, Mary. Animals bring so much to our lives and I’m grateful to give a little back to them too.”

Alley Cats Alliance is appreciative of the support.

“The work that we do at Alley Cats has an incredible impact on controlling the feral cat population and awareness is key for our organization and there continues to be a great demand,” said vice president Theresa Nolet.

“Terry came on as a supporter during the very early days and continues to be such big part of the success of our program.”

The open house is running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Dec. 10 and 11 at 475 Upper Bench Road.
