More than $13,000 was raised by the Penticton Indo-Canadian Community on Nov. 27 for equipment in the new PRH patient care tower.
Two hundred people showed up for the fundraiser held at the South Main Drop-In Centre.
With the money from the event, the local Indo-Canadian community eclipsed the $350,000 mark, and are well on their way to surpassing their goal of $500,000 for the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation.
Organizers say donors have supported the cause from throughout the valley.
“It’s incredible how the Indo-Canadian community has responded so positively to our campaign. It speaks so well to their generosity and support for our regional hospital.” Carey Bornn, executive-director for the SOS Medical Foundation said.
The South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation is trying to raise $20M for new equipment in the new tower, which should be ready for patients early 2019.
