Brewery wins gold

A Penticton brewery has won gold.

Tin Whistle Brewing Company won the medal in the fruit beer category with its Pinot Noir Raspberry Blonde at the 2016 B.C. Beer Awards and Festival.

The beer is an unfiltered blonde ale aged in a Pinot Noir barrel with Fraser Valley raspberries for four months.

It is fruity and slightly tart with acidity from the raspberries and red wine. And it's on tap while quantities last at the brewery.

Other local winners include Cannery Brewing Company in Penticton and Tree Brewing Co. in Kelowna.

Cannnery Brewing's Baltic Porter placed second in the European dark beer category.

Tree Brewing earned third for its Thirsty Beaver Amber Ale in the North American amber ale category
