Truck fire spreads to trees

A truck fire in Penticton engulfed the vehicle before spreading to the brush on the side of road Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the white Dodge Ram was driving on Reservoir Road at 12:30 p.m. when he noticed smoke filling the cab.

He immediately pulled the truck over to the side of the road, and watched as flames began pouring out from beneath the hood.

The Penticton Fire Department rushed to the scene and found the fire had spread to the forested area on the side of the road.

The fire crews temporarily closed the road and quickly got the blaze under control.

Reservoir Road has now been reopened to traffic.

The driver of the truck was uninjured in the fire, but said he was a little shaken up.
