School district 67 changes

The School District 67 board announced a number of administrative changes.

The moves are a result of retirements, school closures and reconfigurations.

In the category of retirement or resignations are: Dave Burgoyne, assistant superintendent, effective July 31; Don MacIntyre, director of instruction, effective July 31 and Dave Brunelle, principal, Skaha Lake Middle School, effective July 31.

The reassignments are Jeff Redden, the principal of Trout Creek to principal, Giant’s Head Elementary, effective Aug. 1; Darcy Mullin, principal, Giant’s Head Elementary to principal, Summerland Middle School, effective Aug.1 and Lloyd Lindsay, principal, McNicoll Park Middle School, to principal, Columbia Elementary, effective Aug. 1.

Jan Ramsay, the principal at Columbia Elementary, will go to Naramata Elementary, effective, Aug. 1.

Todd Lindsay, the principal at Naramata Elementary, is moving to Parkway Elementary, effective Aug. 1.

Appointments are Todd Manuel, director of instruction – student services to assistant superintendent of schools, effective Aug. 1 and  Allen Beckingham, principal of aboriginal education and principal of West Bench Elementary, to district principal of district programs and curriculum, effective Aug. 1.

The board recently voted to close West Bench Elementary School, Trout Creek Elementary School and McNicoll Park Middle School, as the district grapples with low enrolment and budget woes.

Parents, as well as others in the community, have come up with solutions to prevent the closures.

Trustee Bruce Johnson also recently put forward a motion to rescind the closure of West Bench and Trout Creek.
