Prolific offender arrested

A prolific offender from Oliver expanded his horizons, but ended up back in jail.

Brooks Vandenbroek is facing 23 new property offences in Medicine Hat.

According to the Medicine Hat News, police have named three individuals, including Vandenbroek, who were arrested and charged with a number of break-ins.

On Nov. 18 and 19, seven break and enters at small businesses were reported, with suspects breaking glass doors and stealing cash.

On Thursday, police located a stolen vehicle believed to be associated with the break and enters parked at a hotel on 13th Avenue S.E.

Rachel Harder, 31, also of Oliver, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance.

A third individual from Medicine Hat has been charged with two counts of break and enter. All three were scheduled to appear in provincial court, Wednesday.

Police are still investigating the matter and further charges may be laid.

Vandenbroek, pleaded guilty earlier this year to 18 charges out of Osoyoos, Oliver and Penticton, following a break and enter in Osoyoos.

He was arrested June 18 for break, enter and theft after an incident at Joe's Plumbing and Heating.

Vandenbroek was charged for the break and enter as well as several other charges of fraud and mail theft. 

He was released on a conditional sentence.
