Molotov cocktail started fire

Penticton RCMP are continuing to investigate an attempted arson at 124 Calgary Ave.

The Sunday night garage roof fire was deemed suspicious by the Penticton Fire Department, and police were called in.

Rick Dellebuur, with community policing, said the fire was caused by a Molotov cocktail made from a Snapple bottle, which was thrown on the roof.

The location is already known to police, being referred to by some as the "notorious garage."

A truck that ran amok in Penticton in recent weeks, smashing into the Government Street Liquor Store and Decoy Tavern, is believed to have come from that notorious area, said Dellebuur.

The tavern has since reopened, but the liquor store was still closed as of Tuesday.

There have been no arrests made in the arson or the stolen truck rampage.
