Firefighters freed a man from a heavily damaged vehicle following a serious crash on Lakeside Road in Penticton, Friday night.
The crash happened about 7:15 p.m. between a small sedan and a full-size pickup.
Fire, police and ambulance responded to the scene, and the road was closed for several hours in both directions.
The man was trapped inside a silver Honda and, after being extricated from the vehicle, was transported to Penticton Regional Hospital with serious injuries. Occupants of both vehicles were taken to hospital.
Witnesses say they heard a loud bang and saw the truck go airborne. It came to rest about 200 feet down the road.
Traffic was detoured around the scene while traffic analysts assessed the situation.
