Increased fire behaviour

The Testalinden Creek wildfire continues to burn in the Oliver area.

According to fire information officer Rosalie MacAulay, because today is sunnier and drier, there is increased fire behaviour compared to the last few days.

The focus is currently the northern flank of the fire, in the vicinity of Reed Creek, with 156 firefighters, 55 support staff, four helicopters and six pieces of heavy equipment on scene.

No homes are threatened at this time, but an evacuation alert is still in effect for residents of the Fairview Road area and west of Oliver.

The size of the fire is now 4,294 hectares and it is 60 per cent contained.

MacAulay emphasized there is still an area restriction order in effect and people are being asked to stay out of the area for their safety, as well as that of fire crews.
