Fire activity diminishes

Fire activity has diminished at the Testalinden Creek wildfire near Oliver, following rain and cooler temperatures.

It is still an active fire, however, with 228 firefighters, four helicopters and 12 pieces of heavy equipment on scene.

The focus today is on the north flank of the fire, north of Reed Creek.

An evacuation alert remains in place for the Fairview Road area and south toward Testalinden Creek.

Anyone living south of Testalinden Creek is no longer under the alert.

Fire information officer Heather Rice emphasized there is still an area restriction order in effect for the entire fire area.

"We are asking the public to stay away, as we still have an active firefighting effort underway," she said.
