Downtown store vandalized

The owner of a store in downtown Penticton is upset after the front window at her location was vandalized overnight Friday.

Jordan Key, owner of Tiger Alley, a used and new clothing and gift store on Main Street, said she got a call at 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning that the front window was broken.

"I came down and found a cop standing here and a city of Penticton no parking sign inside the window display surrounded by shattered glass," she said. "It was upsetting because now this whole weekend's sales will pay for the broken window."

Key said she has had windows tagged before but nothing this serious. Making matters worse was it is the fifth anniversary of the store, and this was supposed to be a time of celebration.

Key says she does have surveillance video and has reported the incident to the RCMP.

"My hope is they, (whoever did this), is punished severely," she said.

The RCMP was unable to provide updates on the vandalism, or if there were any other issues in the downtown Friday night, on Saturday evening.
