Robotti prelim expected

The wheels of justice continue to grind slowly in the case of the death of Roxanne Louie.

Lawyers on Thursday discussed arrangements for a three-week preliminary hearing for the pair facing charges in Louie's death.

James Pennington, lawyer for Grace Robotti, also filed an application for more disclosure.

Robotti, 65, is charged with the second-degree murder of Louie and Pier Robotti, 61, is charged with interference with a dead body and accessory after the fact to murder.

Pennington and Robert Maxwell, lawyer for Pier Robotti, have complained about matters moving too slowly in the case. Crown counsel has said there is a substantial amount of disclosure to be dealt with.

The new Crown lawyer on the case is Iain Currie, who has said he needs time to go through the file.

It was suggested the matter go to the judicial case manager on Friday, to look for a three-week window for the hearing.

It is believed it will be a joint inquiry for the pair.

Louie, a 26-year-old member of the Osoyoos Indian Band, was reported missing in early January after failing to show up at Penticton Regional Airport for a flight back to Vancouver.

A search ended with the discovery of her body in the Naramata-Chute Lake area.

The Robottis were in custody after turning themselves in, but have since been released on bail.
