Brutal assault in Oliver

Police in Oliver are releasing few details surrounding a brutal assault late last week, but they are saying the public is not in danger.

On Wednesday, a 43-year-old man showed up at the South Okanagan General Hospital suffering from serious injuries.

Police said they believe it was a targeted assault and the public is not at risk.

The man was assessed locally and immediately sent to a specialized hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

This investigation is still in its early stages and no other information will be released at this time.

According to the Oliver Daily News, police spent two days at the McKinney Road home while they investigated the incident with the aid of specialized units from Kelowna and Penticton.

“No other details will be released due to ongoing investigation,” said RCMP Sgt. Blaine Gervais.
