Peachfest float to get fix

Penticton council approved $1,500 this week toward replacing the sound system on the Peachfest float.

The float's sound system is no longer functional, and a replacement would serve for not only this season, but would support the next design.

"I participated in the Calgary Stampede parade on the Peachfest float and can speak on the value and exposure the float brings to Penticton," said Mayor Andrew Jakubeit.

"We are advancing funds to fix the broken stereo system, which is an integral part of the float."

The float has represented the city at a number of events throughout Western Canada and Washington State.
