Jakubeit spent most to win

Penticton Mayor Andrew Jakubeit outspent other candidates to get elected in November's municipal election.

The mayor's total spending added up to $21,888, according to campaign finance disclosure statements released on the BC Elections website this week. 

Contributors to Jakubeit's campaign included Wildstone Engineering, the Pasta Factory, and Okanagan Hockey School, as well as individuals.

Next in spending was John Vassilaki, who spent $19,125 on his campaign. Contributors to Vassilaki's effort included the Slumber Lodge, Spanish Villa Hotel, Penticton Toyota and Park Royal RV Resort.

Third Penticton mayoral candidate Jukka Laurio spent the least; just over $4,000. There was nothing listed under campaign contributions on his statement.

Summerland Mayor Peter Waterman spent just over $6,000, with contributions from several individuals listed.

Osoyoos Mayor Sue McKortoff' had total expenditures of just over $2,400. Her primary contributors were individuals.

Keremeos Mayor Manfred Bauer spent a total of $500.

Oliver Mayor Ron Hovanes and Princeton Mayor Frank Armitage were both elected by acclamation.
