A house fire near Penticton claimed the life of one man Friday night.
At about 5:15 p.m., Penticton fire department responded to a vehicle fire on Smythe Drive about five minutes south of Penticton.
By the time crews arrived, a neighbour had extinguished the fire in a white Ford SUV in the driveway of the home.
Upon further investigation fire crews noticed a fire burning inside the home as well.
As they made entry, they located the body of a male inside the bedroom of the home. The death is not considered suspicious at this time and foul play is not suspected.
There were no other occupants in the home at the time.
The matter is under investigation by RCMP.
