Boil-water advisory still in effect

A water main that burst Sunday in Penticton has been repaired, but a boil-water notice remains in effect.

At least one downtown business was flooded. A sign on the door at CIBC Wood Gundy reads, "branch closure, Monday, Feb. 2, due to building flooding."

There was no one available to comment on the situation at the location.

According to city communications officer Simone Blais, the water main was repaired at 9:30 p.m., Sunday.

The boil-water notice/water-quality advisory remains the same.

It is in effect for the downtown area including: west of Ellis Street and east of Winnipeg Street; and south of Wesminster Avenue W. and north of Padmore/Orchard.

The water-quality advisory is for north of Eckhardt Avenue to Okanagan Lake, from the channel to Haven Hill, Johnson Road, Farrell Street and Cambie Place.

Blais said 238 properties are affected by the boil-water notice, and approximately 800 people.

Updates will continue to be provided at www.penticton.ca.
