Movember drive thru breakfast

Oliver residents will be getting their first opportunity to drive through the local fire hall this weekend, and it's all for a good cause.

The Oliver Fire Department is holding a drive-thru breakfast this Sunday to benefit the Movember cause.

"It seemed like a fun way to involve the community and the fire department, as well as showcase our moustaches," says department member Grant Stevely.

The Movember Foundation challenges men to grow moustaches during November to spark conversation and raise vital funds for its men's health programs.

Oliver firefighters have sported the facial hair each November for the past three years, but this is the first time they'll be handing out breakfast.

"We were just looking at unique fundraising ideas to generate some income," says Stevely.

Adding to the fun, some of the firefighters plan to dye their moustaches pink to bring awareness to breast cancer as well.

People will be treated to breakfast bags as they actually drive through the truck bay. There is a suggested donation of $5 per breakfast bag.

The Movember Drive Thru Breakfast is from 7 to 10 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 30 at the Oliver fire hall, located at 369 Similkameen Ave.
