Stolen corvette found

The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette that was stolen from a Penticton showroom has been found.

Penticton RCMP Sgt. Rick Dellebuur said the corvette was discovered Saturday morning in Surrey, they are currently working in conjunction with the Surrey RCMP to follow up on leads.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The vehicle was taken shortly before midnight last Thursday from the Huber GMC dealership.

When RCMP officers arrived on the scene they found a showroom glass bay door smashed open and possibly a car missing from the showroom floor.

An employee confirmed that the silver 2011 Special Heritage Edition Grand Sport Corvette was missing from the floor. Soon after the vehicle sped past on Eckhardt Avenue toward Highway 97.

An RCMP officer followed for a short distance and confirmed it was going northbound on the highway. Because of the rate of speed and manner in which it was being driven, officers did not initiate a pursuit.

Details were sent to the Summerland RCMP,  and it was seen in the Trout Creek area.

RCMP detachments in the north were also advised, including West Kelowna, and a roadblock was set up near the connector area.

The vehicle was not observed, and was believed to have turned off the highway before getting to that location.
