The Freak'n Farmer race returns
Sep 19, 2013 / 6:47 am
A unique adventure obstacle race held on an Oliver farm, is returning to the South Okanagan this weekend.
Participants in the second Freak'n Farmer race at Covert Farms on Sept. 21 can expect similar challenges to last year, and more.
"We are really excited about this year's changes to The Freak'n Farmer. We have not only more than doubled our numbers from last year, but we have opened the event to even more people by introducing a 5K course and an Okanagan favourite, wine," said Lyndie Hill, of Hoodoo Adventures, who is organizing the event. "With multiple new additions to the race we expect to see very large numbers as it grows in the years to come."
This year, competitive and recreational participants and teams will cover both 5K and 12K courses, facing 23 gruelling and muddy farm style obstacles.
A new partnership with the Oliver Osoyoos WInery Association, will bring some of the Okanagan's finest wines to the event through their involvement with the all new 5K Half Plowed Farmer.
The race will also once again be raising money alongside SUN FM for the South Okanagan Children's Charity.
Other additions to the event will include the ability to camp at the farm, a pancake breakfast before the race at the farm's market and a pre-race dinner on Friday night at Watermark Beach Resort.
