Arrest in bear spray attack

RCMP have arrested a 19-year old Oliver teen for a bear spray incident at a home in the South Okanagan community early Sunday morning.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday Oliver police were notified of a suspicious occurrence at a residence located in the 600 block of Earle Crescent, in Oliver.
The 59 year old female occupant contacted emergency services to report that some person(s) had sprayed an irritating substance into her residence.
Initial scene investigation resulted in the location of a cannister of Bear Spray, wrapped in electrical tape, in close proximity to the residence.
The occupant was subsequently treated by EHS for exposure to the Bear Spray.
RCMP have arrested a 19-year-old male Oliver resident for Break and Enter and Commit Mischief / Assault related offences. T
he suspect has since been released before a Judicial Justice of the Peace and will be appearing on Oct. 2 in BC Provincial Court in Penticton.
This residence was subject of much media attention as a result of an exploded IED complaint, reported on August 12.
At this point, it does not appear that the two incidents are related.
