Sep 15, 2013 / 3:54 pm
3:50 p.m. update: It is with regret that we report 8-year-old Cody O'Connor was taken off life support at the Children’s Hospital in Vancouver and has died as a result of his injuries.
The latest word from the family of Cody O’Connor is not good.
He's the boy that was pulled from a fiery motorhome at Oliver Centennial Park last week.
The boy's father, Ramsey De Prez, says doctors have put Cody on life support.
Family members were advised early yesterday morning to come to the hospital as CPR was being performed.
Cody had surgery performed on Friday to remove glass from his lung, one day after his first surgery due to burning on his arms.
The act of putting Cody on life support indicates that his heart and lungs need assistance.
He suffered burns to 40 per cent of his upper body after the fire broke out in the motorhome. Oliver Fire Chief Dan Skaros was the man who pulled Cody from the burning vehicle.
He was immediately transported by air to the burn unit in Vancouver.
