Problem property gets attention
Sep 3, 2013 / 12:28 pm
The Penticton City Council will consider remedial action orders for yet another nuisance property at tonight's, Tuesday, meeting.
The property at 555 Wade Ave. East has long had problems with boarded openings of the building, graffiti and a general unkempt appearance, according to staff reports.
"They have been trying to get the owners to do something about this property since 2008, so it's about time," said Councillor Helena Konanz.
The case history on the property was opened in May of that year. Since then staff has spent time dealing with complaints, inspections and trying to deal with the property owners.
The owners of 363 Churchill Ave., another property recently declared a nuisance, will be given the opportunity to speak at tonight's meeting.
Staff has received numerous complaints about the location from neighbours, and the owners have been asked to remove debris and weeds, as well as perform other tasks.
Other agenda highlights are transfer of location of the liquor primary club license for the Penticton Yacht and Tennis Club, directing staff to commence public notification of the proposed winery lounge area and special event area endorsement for Painted Rock Winery and multi material BC, recycling incentive acceptance.
There will further be reconsideration of a bylaw pertaining to downtown west revitalization local area service.
