Van ends up in vineyard
Aug 23, 2013 / 6:00 pm
A van travelling northbound on Naramata Road ended up in a vineyard late Friday afternoon.
Naramata Fire Department acting fire chief Tony Trovao said firefighters responded to the incident at around 4:30 p.m.
Trovao said the vehicle shot across the road and went through two or three rows of vineyard before coming to the stop.
The wire in the vineyard, basically kept the van from going further in, he said.
The woman driver was alert and talking when responders arrived on scene. She was taken by ambulance to Penticton Regional Hospital. But did not appear to have major injuries.
The vehicle was damaged, as was the vineyard.
Neighbours said it sounded like a huge tire blowing up and then heard someone say, "she's in the vineyard."
Penticton RCMP and BC Ambulance also responded to the scene. Traffic was briefly slowed at the location.
Trovao said this is the second car he has seen go off the road at that location.
