Investigation continues in motel death
Aug 23, 2013 / 4:00 pm
The investigation into the recent death of a woman in a Penticton motel room is continuing.
The woman was found at the Jubilee Motel, after Penticton firefighters responded to a fire in a room there after 10 p.m. on the night of Thursday, Aug. 15, according to deputy fire chief Dave Spalding.
By the time firefighters got there, the fire had burned itself out and the room was cool.
When firefighters found the body, they notified the RCMP. The case is now being handled by the BC Coroners Service.
Spalding said the fire did not appear to be suspicious, but appeared to be caused by the careless discarding of smoking material.
"The bed was the heaviest area of burning," he said.
