One injured in ATV rollover
9:40 p.m. UPDATE:
Penticton Search and Rescue confirmed they assisted in rescuing an injured ATV rider near Chute Lake Friday.
At 5:32 p.m. BC Ambulance requested the assistance of Penticton and District Search and Rescue after receiving a distress call from a group of 10 ATV riders who advised that one of the group, a 41-year-old female had injured herself after an ATV mishap.
The injuries at the time of the original call appeared to be serious but non- life threatening. The group of ATV riders was able to provide their location coordinates to emergency personnel.
SAR Manager Richard Terry advised that due to the remote nature of area and the time of day it was determined that a helicopter evacuation was the best option.
While a medevac team was being prepared, PENSAR also called in a ground rescue team to act as back up if required.
Eclipse Helicopters with a team of 2 PENSAR members flew to the Grey Back Lake area where the ATV rider was provided with immediate first aid, then packaged in a stretcher.
The Helicopter team then flew to the Kelowna area where the patient was transferred to BC Ambulance for transport to Kelowna General Hospital.
The extent of the injuries and current condition of the victim are not known.
