Victim identified in drowning

A female drowning victim near Oliver last month has been identified as Grace Marie Capot-Blanc.

The 54-year-old Penticton resident was camping at a recreational site at Burnell-Sawmill Lake, about 10 km northwest of Oliver.

According to the BC Coroners Service, other campers heard someone in trouble in the water shortly after 2 a.m.

The RCMP discovered her body 10 metres from the shore and were able to bring her in, however she was deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

Foul play has now been ruled out in this case.
