Crash temporarily closes Hwy 3

A car accident temporarily closed Highway 3 outside of Keremeos Friday afternoon. 

Witnesses said the crash occurred just before 2 p.m. beside Gerry's Fruit Stand.

A blue Toyota Corolla with an 'N' sticker rear-ended a silver Volkswagen Jetta that was trying to make a turn off the highway.

The highway was closed for 20 minutes while Keremeos Fire Department got the vehicles off the highway and the passengers of the Corolla into an ambulance.

The airbags did not deploy in either vehicle. The extent of the injuries was unknown, but Jordy Bosscha of the Keremeos Fire Department said there was nothing visible and they were just taken for a further examination.

The highway has since reopened. Keremeos RCMP were not dispatched to the scene.
